Orienteering session this week

CHANGE OF PLAN

Unfortunately the Nelson Orienteering Club can no longer take our session tomorrow night - so I will go over the basics with you (I used to teach students in the UK going for their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award). We will now meet at the BOTANICS and use the marked course at the Centre of NZ.

Look forward to seeing you there.

Next session

Hows the DOMS? Feeling it? A big thank you to Lyndon Chandler (Nayland Physiotherapy) for his talk on injury prevention. Some of you have been asking about specific stretches for certain areas - I will pass these onto Jo and Gaye for our session on the 7th so that they can cover in more detail - let me know if you think of any others in the interim.

Well done on a tough climb last night - always enjoyable to head high when the weather is perfect to take in the vistas. If you are a bit sore today, then consider going for a short light walk or jog to try and loosen up the muscles a bit. If you were a bit red in places (you may have felt the burn in the shower last night) then barrier cream or Rawleighs ointment often works well on chaffing - and then slop some vaseline on the areas affected before heading out next time.

Next week we will meet at the Botanics again, but it will be all flat. Just might include a bit more intensity based exercise (for those that want to). Greg Lineham from Nelson Athletics will also be coming along to go over race walking technique and how to walk faster, and we will go over basic training principles.
