·       Yoga improves breathing efficiency and so makes other exercise more effective.
·       Yoga develops a strong core helping to protect the body from injuries.
·       Yoga improves performance by developing hand-eye coordination.
·       Yoga energizes by assisting better sleep and reducing stress in everyday life.

Session #7

I hope you have all had a great week.

Please note that I won't post names of the groups on this public blog - if you haven't received an email which states the groupings, ie those in yoga and those in aikido, (and those not listed are therefore in Seido) then please get in touch and I can check your email address.  Xtra addresses, I think, have difficulty receiving my mass emails - so I may need to resend to you individually - just let me know.

Remember to wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing for the activities.

For the next two weeks we wil be split into the three activity groups, so I will be moving between all three sites to see how you are getting on.  If you should need me at any stage during that time (I have the emergency contact numbers and medical information etc on hand for everyone) then please phone my mobile.

Remember, you do the same activity for both weeks (with the exception of those doing yoga, we move venue and activity for our second session, I will email you about this later in the week).

We will come back together on Tuesday 13th November at Riverside Pool for our aquajogging session.

See you Tuesday,

Session #6

I trust you enjoyed Lyndon's talk, finding it informative and getting any niggly questions answered.  If you want to get in touch with Lyndon, then easiest way is to call his workplace, Nayland Physiotherapy, 243 Nayland Road, Stoke on 547 4974.

This coming Tuesday we meet once again at the Botanics at 6.30pm.  We will split our time evenly between personal trainers Jo Duncan and Gaye Evans, for a stretching session and outdoor training segment.

This week I will also ask you to give me your order of preference for our upcoming Body / Martial Arts sessions, ranking in order from 1st preference to 3rd preference from Seido Karate, Aikido Karate and Yoga.  Please note that as numbers are limited for each activity, you may not be able to get your first choice.

See you Tuesday, in the meantime, as always, keep active!

12 October 2012

Session #5

This week we meet at the Botanics, 6.30pm for a chat with Lyndon Chandler of Nayland Physiotherapy about injury prevention before heading out with the NBS Nelson Striders for a 30-40 minute walk/jog.  Please bring warm clothing for the talk first (you can leave excess clothing in my vehicle when we depart from the park if you like).
See you there!

Session #4

This Tuesday we meet once again at the Botanics, off Milton St, 6.30pm for our session.  We will begin with a brief discussion on training principles, then Greg Lineham will chat to us about the technique of 'race' walking, before we have our active part of the session at the park itself.

Please bring warm clothing to wear before we start our activity part of the session.

See you there,

Session #3

I hope you enjoyed the session with Brett last week - remember, you are always welcome to head in and take advantage of his knowledge and get yourself fitted with no obligation to purchase afterwards.  You just need to allow at least 15 minutes to go through the shoe fitting process.

Tomorrow night we meet at the Botanics, which is at the base of the Centre of NZ in Milton Street for our off road jog or walk with the NBS Nelson Striders.
6.30pm.
