Final Session for 2011

I hope you have all dried out and are now able to enjoy some active sunshine!

Tomorrow night, we meet at Ride Nelson in Halifax St (next to the library) for a session instore on bike maintenance. 6.30pm. Just bring yourself - no need to bring your bike with you. This will be our final session for 2011 before we start up again in February 2012.

Session #11

Averil will be there this week to meet you and help assign those into groups (for those that missed this week's session), and once again Carl from Ride Nelson along with Dave and Julie from Biking Nelson will be there to guide you through the trails on your mountainbike. You will see Carl the following week when we head instore, but this will be your last session with Dave and Julie - so please thank them on my behalf too.

Meeting spot is the same as last week, in the carpark on the left just before the start of Branford Park (grassy area as you enter the Maitai Valley). 6.30pm - 7.30pm.
Averil's contact number should you need it, is (03) 548 3655.

Remember to dust off your bells and get along to the Classic Hits Jingle Bells Jog and Santa Walk on Sunday - always good fun! Full details on www.nelsonevents.co.nz

Did we still bike in the rain?

Yes - we'll still be up the Maitai. Just bring warm clothing and a good rain jacket - the more fluro the better in this lovely weather!

Will reassess the weather closer to start time this evening, if thunder and lightning appear then it will be a definite no go. Keep watching the blog for updates on any changes to the plans.

This week's session - Mountainbiking!

This week we begin our Mountainbiking segment of the series. Tomorrow night, we will meet at Branford Park (which is on the left as you enter the Maitai Valley) at 6.30pm.

You will need to bring your bike, helmet and I suggest some layered warmer clothing also. If you don't have access to a bike, then please get in touch as I may be able to sort one to borrow. Similarly, if you have a spare bike at home that someone else may be able to borrow for the next two Tuesday evenings then let me know.

You do not need to have ever been mountainbiking before, as we will start off on the grass area at Branford Park with skill type activities before those that are keen can head off into the surrounding trails. You do however, need to be able to ride a bike.

When you arrive I will ask you to put yourself into confidence groups, starting with not very confident at all on a bike, to more confident and have ridden on trails before. An instructor will then guide your group based on your abilities, so it is important you are honest with yourself so that you get the most out of the sessions.

If you have any queries, please email or call me, otherwise I will see you tomorrow evening!
