Session #9

A huge congratulations to those of you who completed Run Mahana on Saturday - a fantastic achievement! Well done!!

Remember, next up as a series nominated event is the annual Classic Hits Jingle Bells Jog.
Sunday 11th December, run, walk, skate or scoot from Trafalgar Centre through to Tahunanui Beach. $5 per person, or $10 for family - dress up in Christmas theme and be in to win special prizes.

Tomorrow night, we will meet at the slightly later time of 7.15pm at Riverside Pool in the city where John McLean will lead an aquajogging session (and depending on numbers we will probably also get some time to do a bit of swimming for those that are keen).

Aquajogging is running in water with the aid of a buoyancy (aquajogging) belt. We have the whole pool booked for us, so no need to worry about making a fashion statement - whatever togs you have stored away in the cupboard, I am sure will suffice for one hour in the water.

See you there!

Session #8

Tomorrow night we meet at the Botanics once again at 6.30pm for our session. We will be based at the Botanics and we will split into three groups, then move through a twenty minute rotation each of Stretching (with Jo Duncan), Outdoor Training (with Gaye Evans) and Yoga with Rod Watson of The Yoga Space.
Wear comfortable stretchy clothes (and some insect repellant is often handy), along with your water bottle.
See you there!

Session #7

Tomorrow night we meet at the Botanics once again, where we will talk briefly for the first 10-15 minutes on training principles before heading out with the NBS Nelson Striders for a 40 minute jog or walk.

This will be our final session with the Striders - if you are keen to continue with them, their main night is Tuesday night at 5.45pm and is probably the best one to begin with (they do also meet on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday - however they aren't as popular as Tuesday and the weekend ones especially tend to be for longer). So once we finish on Tuesday nights in December, this may be something to consider continuing with. Talk with Averil for more information.

In the meantime keep active, and I'll see you at 6.30pm tomorrow night,

Session #6

Tommorow night we once again meet at the Botanics for an evening of running and walking. Lyndon Chandler of Nayland Physiotherapy will be there at 6.30pm to talk about injury prevention when starting out, and then Greg Lineham, a Nelson race walking judge, will talk about the technique involved with race walking.

We will then utilise the Botanics for our run/walk where you can try out race walking under the guidance of Greg and runners can have a go at how to train your body to go a bit faster.

For those of you who are planning to enter Run Mahana, a reminder that entries close on the 19th of November.

See you tomorrow night.

In the meantime, as always, keep active,
